Erica Grimaldi Science Tech Values 0508-211-03 With everything in life, there are both good and bad consequences of science and technology in our society. As society becomes dependant on technologies, there are bad consequences for society, and good consequences for technology. As for science, there are also consequences. Scientific breakthroughs have helped to save lives all around the world (i.e. medicine). However, even things like medical breakthroughs have consequences. New advancements in medicine are good for sick people, but can also be bad for science because it creates unrealistic expectations of further developments. New technological advancements have both good and bad consequences towards society. Technology can create new jobs, and can cause technological unemployment. Technological unemployment is the loss of jobs due to the introduction of new technologies. Such technologies include the assembly line and new organizational systems such as Taylorism (Nye, 2006, p. 118).
