Erica Grimaldi Science Technology & Values 0508-211-03 Life would be a lot harder than it is now. Many businesses would slow down dramatically or become inoperable. Finding information would be a lot different. The way we find information is a great example of how computers have determined social change. Without computers, there would be no internet. With the internet comes a massive amount of information at your fingertips. Computers put information within reach for anyone, anywhere, at any time. This is a change from past, before computers people would get a dictionary, or an encyclopedia. Now we go to websites like Wikipedia, a free online encyclopedia and dictionary combined. Although I have mainly been discussing computers in the sense of a personal computer, like a laptop computer, I think it is also very important to realize that if we include all microchips under the term 'computers' (which essentially they are) then we have lost
