Geologic Events of Earth History Lab
Purpose : Many geologic events have occurred throughout the history of life on Earth. They can
be divided into eons, eras, and periods. The remains of organisms and rock layers help scientists
determine the changes in Earth’s surface, climate, and organisms. These changes are organized
chronologically in the geologic time scale.
Procedure:
1. Fill in the table below using the information from the Data and Observations table.
2. Using the data from Table 1, create a bar graph that compares the number of events in each
era. Label the x-axis with your eras and the y-axis with the number of events. Be sure to
give your graph a title that includes both variables.
