Next, wewill turn to financial markets with the objective of providing an introduction to stocks, bonds,diversification, and optimal portfolio choice. With an understanding of how market prices aredetermined, we will return to a firm’s investment decisions and evaluation of project risk. Thiscourse will combine the theoretical underpinnings of finance with real-world examples.Course ResourcesWe will usebCoursesfor circulating slides, problem sets, and other materials. These materials areintellectual property of the Haas School of Business so please do not repost. External cases areavailable on study.net. In addition, the textbook has a website, which will be used for the weeklyassignments (details below).To facilitate exchanging questions, answers, and ideas, we will also have a course Slack channel.Any questions that are not answered by your peers will be answered by the GSI. Please postcourse-related questions on Slack, rather than emailing the GSI, so that other students who mayhave the same questions can also benefit from seeing the answers. Feel free to also use the Slackchannel to share resources of interest, e.g., news articles that relate to concepts we discuss inclass.1
