This is because, usually, the wife is the one who stays at home with the children, while the husband is the one who brings home the income. Also, the wife usually takes the last name of the husband rather than keeping her maiden name. Traditionally, these are the things that happen, however, in todays societies things have been changing more. There are more wives who are keeping their maiden names. Along with this, there are more families that are becoming two income families. Typically, the bride and brides family pay for things such as ceremony costs (church, decorations, etc.), entertainment, flowers, photographer, and reception costs.
