Identifiers are attributes that can recognize one instance of an entity. For example, ‘Inventory’ data store would be the entity. The product number in the inventory would be the unique identifier for a specific item. 3) High-level business rules are made during ERD. Examples are: 1) A patient cannot be billed if a visit hasn’t occurred. In my experience with medical software, in order to bill a client/patient, a ‘date of service’ must populate on the billing form. If no ‘date of service’ appears, the bill cannot process, because ‘date of service’ must not be left blank. 2) Booking appointments for doctors would use a high-level rule; each time slot can only allow one patient. This would prevent multiple bookings for the doctor, and would be a good rule to include. 4)
