Strategy for Exports of Korean Drama imitated government promotion of the film industry in the 1990s (KOFIC-Korea Film Council)- Identify, study, preserve, promote and fund the production of films so they can succeed in the film festival circuit - SOME EARLY KOREAN STYLE FILM BLOCKBUSTERS which was a mixture of American Thrillers, Spy films, and war film genres JSA (Joint Security Area) and Shiri in late 1990s for the first time surpassed –Domestic Box Office for Hollywood Films (1 of 5 countries that is not dominated by American films), Cultural differences still apparent in showing of Korean films. Korean blockbuster, Chingoo ( 친친 ) does poorly in Chinese market.
