Dr.Mullen MIS 371 M 2-4:30pm Ch.14 Pg 491 1) The three basic steps in managing organizational change were developed by Kurt Lewin, they are known as unfreeze, move, and refreeze. First, the project team must unfreeze the existing habits of the employees, this may be done by making them aware that change will occur, and include them in some participation of the project. Secondly, move to the new system, use conversion strategies and business models to handle the disruption. Third, refreeze; provide support to adopt new habits in which the employees get familiar with the new way of doing their job. 2) The major components of the migration plan are: preparing the business by selecting the conversion strategy, and a business contingency plan. Preparing the technology by installing the hardware, software, and convert all the data. Finally, prepare the people, revise the management plan, assess cost and benefits, motivate adoption, and conduct training. 3)
