Executive Summary The paper that follows is to show good and bad examples of Corporate Social Responsibility. To understand what Corporate Social Responsibility or CSR is you need a definition. Wikipedia.Com defines CSR as “a concept that encourages organizations to consider the interests of society by taking responsibility for the impact of the organization's activities on customers, employees, shareholders, communities and the environment in all aspects of its operations.”(www.wikipedia.com). That being said there are some good and bad examples of CSR. I’ve outlined four companies that display good CSR and four companies that display bad CSR. The four companies that display good CSR are Wal-Mart, GE, Starbucks and Grameen Bank. Wal-Mart displayed good CSR by going green and regulating its carbon dioxide emissions, which helps the

The companies that displayed poor CSR decisions were Simplicity for Children, who constructed cribs that killed two infants, Toys R Us, who continued selling bibs with lead in them after all the recent lead scares in kids products, BAE, who was falsifying numbers in order to make there company look better on paper, and Imperial Nurses who were treating workers terribly. Making business decisions using CSR is also very critical to corporations; you have to consider the good and the bad when making business decisions. Like if you outsource for cheaper labor, you may in turn have your customers stop buying your product because its not American made, a being produced by sweat shops....
