Jordan Anderson GEOG 143 Exercise 1 Lab: Tues. 8 AM 1. Two questions: How are humans affecting the Earth’s environmental cycles, and how can we quantify the interactions and feedbacks between the environmental systems and human activities and decisions? and How will global change affect terrestrial ecosystems? These questions focus on both, one component of the Earth systems and the interactions between all of Earth’s systems. The first question asks how humans are affecting the interconnectedness of Earth’s cycles, usually in a harmful way. The second question focuses on how global change will affect land ecosystems alone. It is good they are asking both these questions because to be able to understand the entire Earth, we first must know about the individual parts. 2. The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) established the IPCC in 1988 and it is “run” by members within these organizations.
