Established in 1991, they are dedicated to supporting free press, free speech, and free spirit in the media. III. In our presentation today, we are going to inform you about the Freedom Forum and the role it plays in keeping the media fair and diverse. [Who does your organization seek to help?] As earlier stated, the Freedom Forum is a nonpartisan foundation dedicated to free press, free speech and free spirit for all people. The foundation focuses on three priorities: the Newseum, the First Amendment and newsroom diversity. By focusing on these priorities, the Freedom Forum seeks to help the public and their right to give and receive information from all viewpoints. This organization aids people by having their voices heard and also gives them the resources to hear the voices of others much like them. [What is the mission of your organization?] The Freedom Forum hopes their information inspires all to join in their mission to promote free press, free speech and free spirit for all people. As Allen H. Neuharth, founder of the Freedom Forum, describes, free press is the freedom to print or broadcast without censorship. Free speech is the freedom to speak without compromise. And free spirits dream, dare and do. A free spirit can also be a risk-taker, a visionary, an innovative leader, an entrepreneur or a courageous achiever who accomplishes great

This organization wants to inform others of their mission so that they can open their eyes as well, and experience the full extent and power of the first amendment. Who makes up the staff of your organization? The Freedom Forum was founded by Al Neuharth in succession to a program started by Frank E. Gannett. The press contact is Mike Fetters. A large staff makes up this organization: Charles Overby, president and chairman; Peter Prichard, President of the Newseum; Susan Bennett, vice President; and many other people. They are all in charge of different departments of the organization, such as operations, technology, and communications. Charles Overby is the chief executive officer of the Newseum, an interactive news museum in Washington, D.C. He is President and chief executive officer of the Gannett Foundation. He is also the CEO and has traveled to six continents promoting free press values. Formerly an editor of The Clarion-Ledger , he lead the paper to a Pulitzer Prize. He has also served in Congress and worked for USA Today. The President of the Newseum is Peter S. Prichard, former top editor of the USA Today , and journalist of many different column types. He also wrote The Making of McPaper: The Making of USA Today, a book that has won awards and is used in college journalism courses. He has won many awards, served in Vietnam, and was chairman of the National Press Foundation. Susan Bennett is Vice President of marketing for the Newseum and
