Common challenges with application security include:
 They rarely make systems less convenient to use. When their usability becomes an issue,
most users strive to find a way around security controls.
 Examples of such security controls are the use of passwords in protecting user
accounts .Users have to come up with passwords which attackers cannot easily guess.
 If in any case the passwords are not only long but also complicated, most users tend to
write them down and place them near their work stations thus making it possible for the
attackers to easily guess, just like the words from the dictionary. Passwords are relevant
because they offer first time defense against any unauthorized access to either the users’
personal information or the computer.
 The stronger the users password is, the more protected the computer will be from
hackers and other malicious software thus the users should maintain strong passwords
for all the computer accounts so as to prevent loss of information which may come about
as a result of easy access by attackers(Gupta & Mata-Toledo,2016)
 Balancing functionality, security and usability is also very challenging. The major and
vital principle of utilizing multiple layers of security defense in depth since each user
regardless of their roles and responsibilities must possess at least one unique user
account and utilize it for its intended role only.
