I) Purpose : To form an ionic solid, and determine the formula and chemical equation of the solid. II) Procedure : Casey, J. and R. Tatz (2008). Development of an Equation. . General Chemistry Laboratory Experiments , Hayden McNeil. Vol.1: 21-34. III) Data : (See attached report form.) IV) Calculations : (None required.) V) Error analysis/Conclusion: There were a number of possible errors in this laboratory experiment. During any part, there could have been cross contamination of solutions, due to the use of stoppers. Reagents added were not all added with the same device, so there could have been discrepancies in the amount of each added. This laboratory experiment gave hand-on experiment in determining the equation of a reaction, which was a lecture topic. Because tube 4 had the largest precipitate with no signs of excess ions, that was the tube containing the ratio of ions. The ratio of drops was 12:24, or 1:2
