Jordan Ganung Sociology of Religion Midterm Christianity is one of the world’s most prominent religions this is due partly to the fact that it has existed for an incredible amount of time. Throughout its long term existence many events have helped shape the way that Christians and their denominations interpret the world. Within the first thousand years of the existence of Christianity many major events occurred that helped shape the religion. After the crucifixion of Christ, Saint Paul established the apostolic creed. The five beliefs include the trinity: God, the son and the Holy Ghost; the Virgin Mary, forgiveness of sins, the resurrection and eternal life. In this act Saint Paul sets the stage for the moral development of Christianity and its denominations. At this point in Christian history the roman emperor Constantine is responsible for earliest member advancement. After he attributes a key victory on the battlefield to god, he changes the national religion to Christianity and makes it so that Christians are no longer persecuted
