Mark Halma 622-14-1146 GLY 130 Jurassic Dinosaurs The Jurassic period started an age where vegetation become lusher and everything became green. The reptiles began ruling the lands with Sauropods, Thyrephores, and Theropods starting their domination. Reptiles not only ruled the land but were starting to thrive in the skies. During this period the super continent, Pangaea, was starting to drift apart. Dinosaurs truly became the rulers of the earth as they became bigger and stronger during the Jurassic period from 205 million years ago to 140 million years ago. (Smith, UC Berkeley) Sauropods, which means lizard footed, were four legged dinosaurs that thrived off the lush vegetation of the Jurassic period. The Sauropods had four short legs that included five toes on each foot. The large amounts of conifer they digested was made possible by the large guts they equipped. These Dinosaurs are known to be the largest land animal ever discovered. Sauropod fossils have been found on every continent except Antarctica.
