The mixture was heated with a small flame until the benzil was dissolved. 1.0ml of Triton B in triethylene glycol was heated and added to the mixture. 10ml of methanol was added after it was cooled down. The product was collected. Part Two: Coenzyme Catalyzed Synthesis of Benzoin 0.5f of thiamine hydrochloride was dissolved in 1ml of water in a 25ml round bottom flask. 4ml 95% ethanol was added and cooled down in an ice bath. 2 ml of ice cold 2M
