After Napoleon (French)10/07/2015°- The old monarchy was restored after Napoleon was exiled°- One of Louis 16th‘s younger brother ascended to the throne, Louis 18th°- Napoleonic code guaranteed more progressive aims of Frenchrevolution became permanent and new government had to accept it. Had alegislative, but not every man got to vote°- Louis 18thsmart enough not to push things to go back to oldgovernment, and died peacefully°- Succeeded by his younger brother Charles 10th, he tried to push forthe government to go back to the way it was before the revolution°- This resulted in another revolution = July Revolution 1833 aka 2ndrevolution°- Louis Philippe= had himself ratified as King, calls himself King ofFrench= concept of popular sovereignty “French people approved of him asKing” “The citizen King”°- Was popular at first, but caused another revolution = Revolution of1848 aka 3rdFrench Revolution°- Louis Philippe had to advocate himself and was exiled- France became a republic- President of France = Louis Napoleon Bonaparte, nephew of Great Napoleon- He decided that he wants to be called Emperor = Emperor Napoleon III- End of the second republic- Foreign policy = wanted France to expand their authority ever where,involved into a lot of wars- He thought that Mexico should be part of his empire, didn’t end well- Napoleon 3rddeclared war on Prussia “Franco-Prussia War” = resulted inFrench defeat- Important for French, Prussians, and Italians
