Kelly 1 Kris Kelly Dr. Marinova English 123H 26 February 2008 Across the Universe In the mid 20 th century, a group of guys from Liverpool formed a rock band, calling themselves the Beatles. These four young Brits began their music career with a single called “Love Me Do,” which was released in September of 1963 (The Beatles). This launched them into an upward spiral, which 44 years later, inspired director Julie Taymor to create a film based off the Beatles’ era. Many people may remark, “What is so great about this film? It’s just another musical crowding the theaters.” It may seem like just another musical, but that could not be farther from the truth. The themes and compositions presented throughout the duration of this film revive the broadest, most popular ideas of the American 1960s. The original Beatles’ tunes brought about widespread cultural enhancement, and this film just adapted those tunes to today’s listeners. As one walks down a hallway in a residence hall, the

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
