Week 6 Assignment 1 South University - Online Question 1 There are two types of vegetarian the Lacto- vegetarian and the Lacto-ovo vegetarian (Mayo Clinic, 2012). In reference to the lacto-vegetarian their diets do not eat meat, fish, poultry or eggs, and they do not consume any foods which contain those. Dairy products, are also included in their diets. For the lacto-ovo vegetarian their diets allow eggs and dairy, and exclude meat, fish and poultry (Mayo Clinic, 2012). In sum, a vegetarian does not eat animal meat/protein, but does (aside from eggs in some cases) consume products which come from animals. Question 2 I do think vegetarian diets are practical, especially verses a vegan diet. I was vegetarian for about a year, it did occasionally make eating out with friends at specific restaurant difficult. But there is almost always a way to make a meal vegetarian. Question 3 Yes, a vegetarian diet can lack nutrients. These nutrients according to Magee (2014), can be vitamin B12, calcium, iron, riboflavin, alpha-linolenic acid,
