Trait/ Parallel Quotations From Article Parallel to novel Explanation Optimism “..twist of the land, water and fate that, by making it impossible to see what comes next, raises hopes of the possibility of everything .” The journey on the river gave Huck and Jim ambitions and hope for what lied ahead of them. Free to live how they wanted on the River, away from society, Miss Watson, Pap, and Racism. Rewarding “America was created by people riding its riding its rivers- the most fruitful, profitable places to settle lying just around the bend.” Huck and Jim gained a great deal ranging from the wrecked ship, to the people that they came upon and their knowledge, and the towns they explored through traveling on the river. Dreams/Inspirations “Out of that isolation in motion comes every inspiration , from contemplation.” The river gives encouragement and inspiration to Jim and Huck. For instance in the novel Jim and Huck were inspired by the river that freedom existed.
