What is International Politics? International politics: describe the results of decisions made by governments around the world Almost all human activities that take place have been shaped the actions of political leaders. Who is involved in International Politics? Traditionally: states have been the central player in the international system o Control over means of force o To be a nation state you must be recognized by the UN Taiwaiin- have everything to be a nation state, but not recognized because China would invade Others increasingly important o International governmental organizations- an organization whose representatives who are from nation states: United Nations, NATO- defense pact- founded after the Warsaw Pact International Monetary Fund- founded to keep economic stability in order to prevent another depression World Bank- established after WWII- begun to reconstruct Europe o Non Governmental Organizations: World Wildlife Fund- prevent deforestation and extinction of
