Unformatted text preview: 11-14-08Nature/ Society Thought PieceFor this thought piece, I would like to talk about the video that we watched in class (“Green Plans”) and how we could all take something from it. Very simply put, it is kind of depressing to learn that other countries, that some of us may regard as lower in status than the United States, have better sustainability methods and stricter laws concerning our impact on the environment. The one thing that really caught my attention was the 19 year old man that was going to buy his first new car. I know that I already mentioned this in class, but it is still hard for me to see a young man such as himself willing to put down more money for a car so that it would help his children and generations to come. The way that he was talking about it though made him sound as if he was happy doing the good deed and that he didn’t see why anyone would do it. This is a great way of thinking and should be carried out in more places. I doubt that too many Americans would be fans of paying more though to have their car “recycled” after its time has passed. This showed me that to change the conditions in the U.S. it will come down to how much the people are willing to go out of their way to improve the society and the environment for the upcoming generations....
