I) Purpose : To determine a known and unknown liquids’ heat of vaporization as well as to compare vaporization heats for a series of related compounds. II) Procedure : Casey, J. and R. Tatz (2008). Vapor Pressure and Heat of Vaporization.. General Chemistry Laboratory Experiments , Hayden McNeil. Vol.2: 33-35. III) Data : (See attached report form.) (See figures 1 and 2, attached.) IV) Calculations : P s of Heptane at volume = 6mL = ( - * Ps Pb 1 VRV TTR = *( - Ps 743 1 56300293 = . Ps 109 04 mm Hg ∆H Vap of Heptane ∆H = - Vap slope x R ∆H =-- . Vap 3063 x 8 315 ∆H = . / Vap 25468 845 kJ mol V) Error analysis/Conclusion: There were multiple possible sources of error in this laboratory experiment. The main potential source of error lies in accepting other students’ observations. If they did not follow the procedure exactly, then all the data obtained from them would be inaccurate, thus causing errors throughout the lab.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
