Mini Lesson Long Vowel I (CVCe) Introduction: Teacher will introduce the concept that we will be learning today. It is the long vowel i, which says its name /i/. It is called the magic or silent e that comes after an i then a consonant. Teacher Modeling: Led by the teacher, the class will read the poem “The Doctor’s Line”. The teacher will then point out the words that follow this rule in the poem. These are nine, line, five, time, fine, and nice. Guided Practice: Together the class will do and go over the i-e poem worksheet. Teacher will call on students to answer the question out loud and emphasize that the correct answers have the long I CVCe rule.
