Biol 1201 Sec 1 Spring 2008 First Exam Study Guide Focus on the material and examples covered in lecture . The exam covers material in Chapters 2 through 6 of the text. There will be 52 questions on the exam each worth 2 points. (The maximum score on the test is 104.) Bring your student ID and a number 2 pencil to the exam . (And perhaps an eraser.) I will provide you with a scantron. Do not assume that the "Practice test" on Blackboard is a study guide. The quiz questions (Blackboard and in-class) identify topics I think are important for you to know. Topics: Information from the Introductory Material (from lecture) (5 questions) Know the definitions and examples of Endotherm- heat energy Ectotherm- accumulate antifreeze particles Thermophile-bacteria- exist at temps up to 130 deg C (grow at 121) (live in hydrothermal vents) Halophile- live in osmotic equilibrium with 3 molar salt Barophile- pressure loving- thrive at pressures that kill surface bacteria Piezophile- same as barophile Know the temperature ranges of living cells
