Field Exercise Roseman Orthodontic Clinic Advanced Education in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics/MBA Residency Program Linda Newill 2/27/16
2 | P a g e Introduction Roseman University Orthodontic Clinic is located in Henderson, Nevada. It opened in 2009 with the first class students in the Advanced Education in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics/MBA Residency Program (AEODO). This program is a three-year program unless the student takes the one-year intern program first. The clinic started with nine residents and has grown to having 10 residents a year and 3 interns. The clinic is supervised by eleven Doctors of Dental Medicine who have their Certificates of Orthodontics as well as American Board of Orthodontics Certified (ABO), a Clinical Manager and staff of seven. The clinic has the latest technology available and offers orthodontic services to the public as a lower cost than most private practices. My interview was on Friday, February 19, 2016 with Dana Pachar, Clinic Manager. Ms. Pachar introduced me to the staff, we then went over the interview questions that I had provided her prior to our appointment as well as an in-depth description of her duties. She gave me a tour of the facilities, walking me through the process of what services are provided and the typical day at the clinic. Twenty residents were practicing that afternoon so I was able to observe running at peak capacity. I also spoke to Jaleh Pourhamidi DMD, MDSc, Dean of the AEODO/MBA Residency program for a brief overview. Observations and Findings Associated with Critical Operations Management Decisions Service Design Roseman Orthodontic Clinic is design to operate similar to a private orthodontic clinic. This design is followed so that the residents can learn all operations of a clinic. This will help

The clinic utilizes the latest technology that is available to the market today in part due to vendors that are eager to supply the university with free samples or below cost items for the residents to use in hopes that they will continue to use their products after graduation. Orthodontic treatment is offered to the public for all ages. Quality treatment is provided by licensed dentist and overseen by highly qualified Doctors of Dental Medicine that are ABO Certified. Treatment is available at a lower rate than most Orthodontic Clinics charge, making it possible for many to get braces that normally would not be able to afford them. One of the newest service implemented this year to was a Rewards Program. This was set up to allow patients to earn points to purchase gift cards from over 200 companies. The idea behind this program was to encourage patients to improve their oral hygiene, wear their appliances, keep appointments, be on time, post on social media and refer people to the clinic.
