It is difficult to believe that it is as normal for a coin to land on “heads” eighty five times in a row as it is for it to land on “tails” half of the time, because when flipping a coin, there is always a fifty-percent chance it could land on “heads”, as there is a fifty percent chance it could land on “tails”. Rosencrantz in Guildenstern’s logic is narrowed to thinking that the 50/50 chance remains each time they flip the coin, as if the chance of flipping heads twice in a row makes both coin tosses independent from another. But in reality, the chance of flipping a coin and it landing on “heads” twice in a row is twenty five-percent—not fifty percent. 2. Stoppard makes Rosencrantz and Guildenstern incompetent to the point of forgetting their own names as a comical way of exaggerating their stupidity that reveals their transparent plot against Hamlet in the original play,
