IKEA is a worldwide furnishing business that designs and sells furniture such as desk, beds, closets, wardrobe, chairs, doors, and home accessories. The company has 214 retail stores in 34 different countries around the world and more than 127,000 employees working for IKEA. IKEA was firstly found by Ingvar Kamprad in 1943, and the first retail store of IKEA was built in Sweden 1958, and extended their business from Switzerland to 21 different countries after 50 years. IKEA’s motto “Offer a wide range of well-designed, functional home furnishing products at price so low that a many people as possible will be able to afford them.” As they are proving their motto, IKEA provides low price products average of 2~3% lower than the competing furnishing companies. IKEA Then what is the reason and driving force that makes IKEA one of the biggest and most successful furnishing businesses? There are several factors, but in this essay we will discuss especially about RFID Technology of IKEA and customer relationship management of IKEA. Before we start discussing about the RFID technology of IKEA and CRM, we should understand supply chain management at IKEA. Supply chain management is a process used by companies to ensure that their supply chain is efficient and cost-effective. In this case, IKEA is working towards the goal of ONE IKEA, which means ONE distribution service. One distribution service means that all of the products and orders are gathered into one place, and the delivery is made through only this distribution center.
