U.S. (1944) Film: A Raisin in the Sun This 1961 film (based on the 1959 play) fictionalizes the experiences of the Hansberry family in Chicago during the 1940s. For this black family, how does racism influence health? Housing? Employment? Select a scene illustrating each category and describe and analyze it. Describe the gender roles in the family and the tensions they caused. Consider the way we have discussed appropriate male and female roles in our past chapters, and especially how we defined masculinity.
