Current Event Assignment (100 points) Total time: 10 minutes The current event assignment is designed for students to take course concepts and apply them to real life events currently taking place. Students’ will pick a date to complete the assignment. Expectations: Each student must find a current news story at the community, state, national, or international level. The article must be from a credible news source. For example: CNN, The New York Times, NPR, etc. “Current” meaning within the past six months. Components: Written one page summary of the event. (50 pts) Here you will go into greater detail about the who, what, where, when and how of the news story and have a paragraph relating the information to the chapter assigned that week. For example, week 3 content, perceptions; week 4 content listening etc. At the end of the summary and course connection, you must include 3-5 discussion questions that you will use in class.
