BUAD 304 Pierre Towns Assignment 4 March 29, 2006 3. If you were an employee in a matrix structure, what pluses do you think the structure would provide? What minuses? The matrix structure is a system combines two forms of functional departmentalization, which minimizes the number of needed specialists by sharing resources, and product departmentalization which coordinates among specialties to make sure tasks are completed on-time. One of the pluses of employees working in a matrix structure is there is a lot of contact between different specialties which helps communication within the structure. This helps the groups complete complex tasks with greater ease because of the great number of specialists together. On the other hand, the matrix structure can foster confusion for employees because of the fact that people are answering to more than one boss.
