Page 146 1. Define the three primary types of decision-making systems, and explain how a customer of Actionly might use them to find business intelligence. The three primary types of decision making systems are operational, managerial and strategic support systems. Operational support systems support the performance of daily operational or structured decisions and typically encompass all the information contained within a single business process or unit of work. Manufacturing customers of Actionly can use its “Click Performance” metric to determine the number of clicks its products are receiving and whether more of its product should be manufactured or ordered. Managerial support systems encompass all organizational information and its primary purpose is to support the performance of managerial analysis or semi structured decisions. Managers often use the information to discover trends, product statistics and future growth projections. Customers of Actionly can use industry trends to determine where the industry is going to help determine if the company’s product or service is still competitive within the market. Managers could also use the data within Actionly to conduct a “what-if analysis” to check the impact of a change in a variable or assumption. The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
