Rachel Kronenberger Families and Class Placement The article, “Families and Class Placement,” by Daniel P. McMurrer and Isabel V. Sawhill talks about why families are important to the class placement of their children. This article gives you a summary of the issues and the research that has gone on in this area. The article talks about the importance of family background, genetic inheritance, material resources, and parenting and home environment. The article finishes off with a summary of all that was talked about within the article. The beginning of this article talks about what family background is. It talks about how family background can include parents’ marital status, number of siblings, race, and even residential location. Family background is then split into three categories throughout this article. The categories are genetic inheritance, material resources, and parenting and home environment.
