5.3.2015 1. The first step to determining if the transmission of hepatitis A came from the food handlers would be to find out if they themselves were ill. Having discovered their personal states, it should be discovered if they were in contact with the disease at all. From here it would be vital to learn their daily habits, for example, if they washed their hands after using the bathroom or when they were preparing the food. Another important factor would be the environment, because hepatitis a can thrive on surface areas if they are not properly and consistently cleaned. If the virus was in fact transmitted to these surfaces where food was readied, then there would still be time for it to be consumed while it still was live. 2. The inspection led to serious concern. The food preparation areas were not nearly as clean as they should be, and the food was out and susceptible to any number of viruses or bacteria. Beyond this, if the environment is so unclean, it is fair to assume the workers themselves are not hygienic enough, implying that is how it spread in the first place. Based on these conditions, the City Health Department does have the authority to close the dining facility, if there is cause to believe it is resulting in the outbreak of a reportable disease. I do agree with the decision to close. If it became such a prevalent issue, so quickly, there is something wrong within the workplace that needs to be changed immediately to prevent further spread.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
