This assignment is linked with activity 4.1 on the criminal justice system and the public. Under "Additional Resources" there are two documents on Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) as well as a
document called "Crime Against Women Report 2018". Together with the links below, they provide more information on the extent of IPV not only in South Africa but worldwide. There are shocking
statistics on the abuse of women. In this assignment you will have to look at the issue of IPV and how each component of the criminal justice system can contribute towards dealing with this socie
challenge.
Your answer should be structured as follows:
1. In light of the current issue of IPV and crimes against women, briefly discuss what the implications will be for the police, the courts and correctional services. (8 marks)
2. Name the two main Acts of legislation applicable when dealing with domestic violence and intimidation. (2 marks)
3. How does the criminal justice system deal with vulnerable groups such as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and intersex (LGBTQI) community amongst others when they are victims of
crimes? (200 words, 5 marks)
