NameSociology 101Section #20The Sociological ImaginationIf someone were to ask you what the Sociological Imagination was, what would you say? If I were, I would tell them it is the way we as humans can take a situation that could be a problem or issue or anything like that, that relates to an individual and view it through the eyes of the wider society. Each person has their own way of viewing the world and is why the idea of Context is so closely related to the idea of the Sociological Imagination. This is because every person’s view is skewed because of their own personal context. What do I mean by this? This could be considered as what someone finds to be their norm. For example it could be how you were raised, how you currently live, even how you view the world through your own Sociological Imagination. We are all shaped differently with different morals andbeliefs and this is what helps us develop our own Sociological Imagination. It really is interesting how by using this we can view even personal hardships as societal issues. In other words, let’s say a man is fired from his job because he doesn’t have the funds to purchase a specific part of the uniform his employer requires. Now some could see this as an issue of the man not budgeting his money right while others
