2a. Stakeholder Register and the Stakeholder Engagement Plan
The stakeholder register is defined by the Project Management Institute as a document
and major output that includes the identification, assessment and classification of the
stakeholders involved in the project. Identification of stakeholders requires the name,
position, location, contact details, and the role(s) the stakeholder has on the project
(Project Management Institute, 2017, 514). The assessment information includes major
requirements and expectations. The assessment allows project managers to see when
and where the stakeholders have the most amount of influence on the project (Project
Management Institute, 2017, 514). Stakeholder classification is the model used to
organize the register (Project Management Institute, 2017, 514). All three components
support distributing information to the stakeholders because the register provides a
clear guideline on who should receive different information.
