Rockville rallies to beat Damascus
Two seniors team up to score two goals after Hornets took an early 1-0 lead

Seniors Marcio Lopes and Christian Porras were the common denominators Wednesday in both of
Rockville High School boys’ soccer team's goals against visiting Damascus.
Lopes was taken down by a Swarmin' Hornet defender 28 minutes into the first half, prompting a
successful penalty kick from Porras. Nine minutes before the end of regulation, Lopes was on the end of a
pinpoint cross from Porras, knocking the ball into the net with header to give the hosts a 2-1 victory in the
Montgomery 3A/2A Division contest at Joseph B. Good Stadium.
"At the end, we just finished our chances a little bit better than them," said Lopes, who has scored three
goals on the season. "Connor [Hylton] sent it down to Christian; I could see that Christian was going to
the corner, so I knew he was about to cross it. So I started to run toward the back post. I was just glad that
there was no defender there in front of me."
