What is Psychology and Curriculum?2
PSYCHOLOGYPsychology is the scientific studyof the mind and behavior,according to the AmericanPsychologicalAssociation. Psychology is amultifaceted discipline andincludes many sub-fields of studysuch areas as humandevelopment, sports, health,clinical, social behavior andcognitive processes.CURRICULUMCurriculum is a standards-based sequenceof planned experiences where studentspractice and achieve proficiency in contentand applied learning skills. Curriculum isthe central guide for all educators as towhat is essential for teaching and learning,so that every student has access torigorous academic experiences. Thestructure, organization, and considerationsin a curriculum are created in order toenhance student learning and facilitateinstruction. Curriculum must include thenecessary goals, methods, materials andassessments to effectively supportinstruction and learning.3
Psychology provides information about the teaching andlearning process. It also seeks answers as to how acurriculum will be organized to achieve students’learning at the optimum level and what amount ofinformation they can absorb in learning the variouscontents of the curriculum.4
