The American national government would not be as it is today without the multitude of organizations that it encompasses. Each branch has a specific responsibility that is important in Americans’ daily lives whether they realize it or not. Government shapes the way of life the individual citizen has by writing laws, interpreting them, and enforcing them. Congress is a unique section of the United States Government in that it has power make a plethora of decisions as part of the checks and balances system. In Article One Section eight o the constitution Congress has the power to “lay and collect taxes” as well as deal with other fiscal issues. Another influential ability that Congress has is to declare war. If congress declares war, even the president has to obey its orders even though he is commander in chief of the military. Along with these powers they are also given the responsibility to approve treaties and determine how powers will be given. Congress is representative, its members must consider the
