August 08, 2007 Knittle TWR 10am-12pm The Good Life The quintessential idea of the good life is that of a lifestyle pouring with riches, flooded with luxuries, filled with wealth. It is generally accepted that money cannot buy happiness, but that in the vast majority of cases, the two go hand in hand. I however, believe that the good life does not require material wealth. We, as residents of the silicon valley of California, are very privileged peoples in comparison to the rest of the nation, or the world, as a whole. Both my parents have graduated from universities with bachelors degrees or higher and are both currently employed. These circumstances created for me an environment in which I was surrounded by intellectual people, in which I could pursue and education and other activities without any financial fears. While families would life paycheck by paycheck from double shifts to pay the rent and struggle to feed the kids, I lived in the luxury of financial security. I can't complain about my life at all, I am living the good life. Not only do i have
