Alley 1 Nicholas Alley Professor Martin ENGL 2327 S02 10-23-05 Poe’s stories response paper Only Edgar Allen Poe could have written most of his stories. Most stories written by people are not very original, and therefore can be written by anyone. Usually authors seem as if they just beat other people to an idea. Poe, on the other hand, always has original stories. One contributing factor to this is that most of his stories are about death and the way in which the character die. This is an area that a lot of writers stay away from. Poe’s stories are some of a very few that people enjoy reading; this is why his stories stand out. In The Fall of the House of Usher , Poe has a primary character die. In fact, in many, if not all of his stories, the primary character dies. In The Cask of Amontillado , one of the two main characters dies. In his stories however, the way in which they meet their end does change. In some, such as The Cask of Amontillado
