Michael Bustamante Johnny Espinoza Obesity America has fought long, treacherous battles to establish itself as a superpower of the world. With the conclusion of the Civil War and the emergence of the Civil Rights Movement, America has slowly, but surely purged itself of the numerous social issues that plagued many Americans. It isn’t until we fast forward to the 21 st century that we witness the disastrous effects of the sedentary lifestyle. It appears that America needs to worry less and less about the many social issues that once haunted the “land of the brave” and now must shift its attention in creating a healthier America. McDonalds, Whataburger, and Burger King are just a few of the several money- hungry restaurants that are appearing right down the road from many suburban homes. With the advancement of technology and the creation of high-tech equipment, people appear to be spending more and more time on the couch. While we are in the midst of becoming one of the great nations this world has ever seen, we seem to be fighting a war
