CTT, pp. 57-69 1. The Diaspora means “dispersion” and refers to those Jews who were “dispersed” through historical circumstances outside the traditional Jewish homeland. Diaspora Jews focus more on Torah and synagogue than on Temple and sacrifices. 2. The Septuagint is a Greek version of the Hebrew scriptures that differs from the Hebrew Bible in the order of the books and in its inclusion of the apocrypha or deuterocanonical books. 3. The Second Temple is the temple that was rebuilt in place of Solomon’s Temple that was destroyed by the Jews who returned to Palestine. 4. 5. The Holy of Holies is where the Ark of the Covenant had been dept and God’s presence dwelled, was in the innermost part of the Temple. 6. “Keeping kosher” is following the Torah in one’s daily life which includes following both the ethical guidelines and the special Jewish dietary restrictions . 7.
