Phil 115 Section P3 October 19, 2007 Do I Have a Nonphysical Mind or Soul? If I have a physical mind and soul, it would be assumed that those would both die and be destroyed when my physical body dies. If I have a nonphysical mind and soul, it would be assumed that they go on somewhere else after my body has died. I don’t believe that they are destroyed with the death of my body. I believe that I do have a nonphysical mind and soul and that is what I will argue in this essay. The mind cannot be physical because the mind and nervous system generate energy, they generate electricity. When the nervous system sends signals to the brain from different parts of the body it generates an electrical current. “Some synapses, called electrical synapses, contain gap junctions which do allow electrical current to flow directly from cell to cell” (Campbell et al 1021).
