Junto #5Prompt: In what ways did economic conditions and developments in the arts and entertainment help create the reputation of the 1920’s as the Roaring Twenties? Thesis: The economic standing of the entertainment industries of the roaring twenties made the time period the fiscal apex of the century. During this era of growth, which especially occurred in the industrial sector of the United States economy, consumer spending skyrocketed above the previous average working wage. This was extremely prevalent in the upper and upper middle class. Cars, new technology, and lavish entertainment became the center of attention for all classes. Economic:- Reckless spending since labor and time saving devices had been invented (washing machine, dishwasher, vacuum, electric sewing machine, etc...)- Government encouraged to borrow, spend, pay back, borrow, spend, pay back, borrow, spend, pay back, and so on.- Entertainment pulled dollars out of people's wallets such as radios, movies (1927 talking movies became possible) sports (mainly baseball) and travel in automobiles.
