PHL 100Y: Instructions for first assignment: due on November 16 1. As indicated in the syllabus, this is to be an analytical summary of a piece of philosophical reasoning of 500-750 words. The piece of reasoning can be selected from any of the readings assigned for Unit II. Identifying an argument or piece of reasoning from a reading is part of the assignment. 2. Please pay attention to the common requirements for papers that are set out on the second page of the syllabus. 3. I do not require approval of the topics for this assignment, as long as they fall within the readings on which the assignment is to be based, and follow the guidelines set out here. If in doubt, I will be happy to discuss your topic choice by email, discussion board or face to face, and your TA will have some discussion of topics in the tutorials. 4. The primary purpose of this assignment is for the student to pick out from an assigned reading a piece of philosophical reasoning and to prepare a careful, analytical summary of the philosophical issues and reasoning it contains.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
