Using The NetBeans IDE The following steps will allow you to create a new NetBeans (NB) project. (Note that the NetBeans IDE is free from Sun Microsystems and NetBeans.org. You may want to download the Visual Web or Studio Creator file and install them, too.) 1. Select: File-New Project from main menu 2. From the New Project dialog, a. Select General from the Catagories pane b. Select Java Application from the Project pane c. Click Next button. 3. In the Name and Location dialog, enter the Project Name you wish to give the project. Note: This becomes the folder name for the project and also serves as the project’s namespace. a. Make sure Set as Main Project is checked. b. Make sure Create Main Class is NOT checked. b. Click Finish 4. You will now see something similar to: Your project appears in the Projects tab (upper left corner). I called the project NetBeansDates. 5. Right-click on your project name in the Projects tab (e.g., NetBeansDates). a. Now select New-JFrame Form. Your screen will look similar to:
