The Imortance of Resortative Justice
The Justice System is a complex system where every justice comes with an
injustice. The Justice System needs to change along with its society. One step
towards this change is Restorative Justice. Restorative Justice attempts to rectify
the harm caused to citizens of society and redefine the relationship between the
victim and the criminal. Restorative Justice allows for criminals that would
typically re-offend, to change their brains to think a different way, brings new
opportunities and accountability, and gives offenders the ability to change their
brains and better themselves.
Without Restorative Justice offenders would never be able to better their
lives. With Restorative Justice criminals can change their brains so that they never
think the way they used to again. This leads to less reoffenders. In the article Does
restorative justice affect reconviction? it states “Summed over all three restorative
justice schemes, those offenders who participated in restorative justice committed
statistically significantly fewer offences (in terms of reconvictions) in the
