Transcendence1. Alan Watts warns the listeners to be careful when relating various images of God since itis very easy to misinterpret the biblical God, and the God imagined by the church. He claimsthat the image of God with which we deal nowadays is “paternalistic, and authoritative”.Every time we hear word “God” we refer to the Creator of universe, but in reality, in churchwe confront with God which opposed to his Commandments. He also claims that the imageof Father has a “monarchist” character, which any of us who leaves i democratic society maylike. In other words, he warns the listeners in order to not get fooled by the church and by themisinterpretation of the faulty images.2. Watts uses the idea of unity of opposites to describe the God and offer an understanding. Atfirst glance it may seem to be a dualistic approach, but more thorough thinking brings anunderstanding it is about unity of opposites – that in things that are opposite to each other
